Leaky roofs, mud floors, lack of toilets or safe drinking water, cramped living conditions, poor ventilation, freezing in the winter, and unbearably hot in the summers, poorly built structures that collapse when the earth moves or the river floods. These are some of the daily realities faced by millions of families across Nepal.
Add high seismic activity, increasing risks of climate-induced disasters alongside haphazard rapid urbanization, effectively compounding the risks faced by families living in inadequate shelter. As per the Government of Nepal’s estimates, over a million homes will need to be built in over the next decade. The enormity of the challenge requires a systemic lens and cross-sectoral collaboration; the challenge is too big for one entity, one sector, one actor to address alone.
By 2028, we aim to impact 2.75 million Nepalis lives through our integrated programs on building better homes, transforming market systems for affordable housing and housing finance, and inspiring action for housing.

Homes Nepal must build over the next decade
We build climate-resilient homes and communities in partnership with families and governments.
We build affordability by working with market actors to advance green construction technologies like treated bamboo. We work with financial institutions to advance affordable housing loans and insurance.
We build action for housing by working with youth and volunteers for climate resilient future for Nepal.
Habitat for Humanity Nepal is dedicated to building a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Since 1997 we have worked alongside families, communities and partners to create safe, affordable and resilient housing solutions that strengthen lives and livelihoods.
We bring nearly 30 years of trusted experience partnering with families to build, improve and finance places to call home. As part of Habitat for Humanity International, we are committed to eliminating housing poverty and ensuring every person lives in dignity and security.
Every safe, affordable home sparks wider change — better health, education and well-being; more economic growth; and less poverty.
