COVID-19 HAS NOT HELD US BACK
As we headed into the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, we had great concerns about the impact of COVID-19 on our house construction commitments. We feared our families, who are most in need of safe shelter would be left in precarious conditions as we entered the monsoon season.
However, the silver lining of COVID’s impact was that house construction actually picked up pace during April through June. As overseas workers returned to their villages and other family members who had lost their work could dedicate their efforts to home building. Our field staff and partner NGOs innovated a “food for work” program that allowed the most vulnerable communities to earn food supplies while building their houses – meeting two basic needs: housing and nutrition.
Thank you for your partnership. Habitat Nepal needs you more than ever!
